Its been a while since I’ve posted. I am still working on a few projects and will update on that soon.
I’m posting today because I have a announcement! I’ll be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo for the month of April! I will be working on a novel that I have been holding on to for years. I’ve set myself a goal and hope to achieve it by the end of the month. I’ll be updating here on my journey at camp!
p.s. If you’re participating in Camp NaNoWriMo my name is Blacklightuthor
If you have been checking out my works in progress page you would have seen last month my micro fiction had been published on Farther Stars Than these! If haven’t read it yet the story title is “Concert” click the title to check it out!
Like the last post I made stated writing the story often times is on half the battle. Finding a good match in a publisher (be it a website, magazine or anthology) is a serious job. So one can imagine I’ve been receiving quite a few rejections for my submissions. As an author you have to take it all in stride. Recently I read an article in Writer’s Digest about ways to celebrate different rejection milestones such as your 1st rejection, 10th rejection and so forth. It cheered me up with its humor as I’m sure I’ve reached one of the milestones (I haven’t officially counted how many rejections I’ve received.) Wouldn’t you know the weekend I read this article I made yet another submission. A couple of days later I go to check my email and scan the message for the typical Thank you for your submission –rejection. Only to be surprised with congratulations! So I will be having a short story published in September! Look forward to more information on that soon! As you know I’ve been doing music reviews at dj2thirteen.com and you can read my latest review here.
Its been a while since my last post. I have since finished two more short stories; one was done using a prompt and the other was based on an idea I conceived while riding on the bus to work two years ago.
After writing the stories, going through the revision after revision having the work proofread finally the finished work emerges. I almost feel like saying “well the hard part is now over!” This statement couldn’t be further from the truth. The next step of finding a website, magazine or what have you is sometimes considerably more difficult. And that will be a great topic for my next blog post!
Meanwhile as I stated in my last post I have begun writing music reviews again. I have always written reviews for songs never instrumental albums. So I challenged myself and wrote a review for a instrumental album. So in the meantime please check out the review at dj2thirteen.com !
